All the electrolytic caps should be changed. I'm on my first experience with tubes myself so we can learn together. Any resistors that looked cracked, burnt or falling apart as well.

Didn't know dynascan used EPT0114011z boards. I've only seen them in the ranger radios. Most of them I knew were dynascan but they were made in the philipeenes, tiawan and hong kong. Mine was made in Malaysia. Would it be worth the dual pot mod? Thanks

Myself I run the mic gain on the radio wide open and start with the mic turned off. Then slowly ease the gain on the mic open until I get good audio. Remember that you can achieve over-modulation before a squeal sometimes so just eniugh on the mic for clean audio. JMHO 73's

computer power supplies

Any one ever convert a computer power supply to a bench supply? I have done several and they worked great without a hitch but I just did one rated at 13a @ 12v and 250w. It comes on and gives 12VDC but shuts down at 1.5a. The specs say it should be good for 13a at 12v. Any ideas?

If I ever get one it will be wired to my navajo 458 for ssb only. I only use the 458 on sundays on SSB for check ins. I rarely use that radio on am but it does happen from time to time. Man I love that radio but it doesn't have the horse power for AM dxing. But thanks for the heads up.

Mosy GPS tracking antennas use the BNC conectors and will fry a cb radio if you try to transmit thru it. They will recieve cb signals but you can not key the radio. Mobile cb antennas are cheap compared to new radios.

RG293 equivalent. Manufactured for use in apachee heliocoptors. 5kw rated but will never see more than 1kw as bad as I hate to say it.

For the meter lights? They work great but 2 for $10 sounds high. Being that they are LEDs you make sure which wire is hot and which is ground.
