So Again i have been reading about jumper lengths and formulas. My question is there a formula for jumper length between transceiver and amp ? Now i have always used a three foot jumper but i understand there is a lot of discussion on this. Has anybody tried something different and had better result...

I have heard the same about sound also but with today's new radios i dont believe that is true, I do believe tubes are more forgiving in regards to driving them hard .I do like the old time sound of tube radio though. Kind of like MP3 and Vinyl

I have two . I use them together to run my amp .yes the fans are a little noisy but the price is right and they work great

Thanks MD i was thinking trace my self but i wanted a second opinion. on the texas star the heat sink is on the bottom so i had it upside down so now i need to look under the board.

Ok so i was introduced to a gentleman who is supposed to be good at repairing amps .He hooked up the amp and its works perfectly. he thinks it got out of balance from the high dead key of the browning (11 watts) so now im on a quest to find out what was done to give the browning such a high dead key...

Texas star DX500

Well i knew she would go some day but my 36 or so yrs Amp finally failed. i saw my output drop to half and my swr sky rocketed. No time today but stay tuned when i open it up and take a look around. Maybe it an easy fix ?

I drilled a hole after i turned it down a little. Reports came back better and some nice locals got me dialed in. its pushes about 4.5 watts on my meter is that about right .im having trouble find simple info on this radio.

Well i finally got my MK iv up and running, The problem is its got great audio .Too good ! im picking up stuff going on around me (fans) (outside noise) does anybody know how to quiet this mic down ? Or is this inside the radio?

stay with what you got. I downloaded windows 10 and it has alot of issues ,like you cant stop it from updating and updates are prone to changing settings on your pc . i had vista on my pc so i pretty much had to change and i really dont like it .

Great ! when you get stuff set up eventually you will like to play around with Side band . Its sporadic at best now but when it gets going 38 lsb is hopping and you can get alot of dx contacts. I was watching some videos today and some guy was talking dx on a dipole he had set up inside of his house...
