:bounce: Audio is KING in my book when done properly, it sometimes is trial and error and then you hit it. The Cobra 25 is still an awesome radio, and anything prior to 2000 mfg date is a plus. Myself would probably go with the NC mic over the power. Good luck.

:cheers: I'm guessing the cold weather is good for DX. Yesterday around 11:00 AM, I turned on the Base and all of a sudden Chicago 143 on 36 lsb sounded like he was in my driveway. Those adaptors......work most of the time. But it IS better to wire it to the 5-pin plug. I personally know that. Just make sure the mic cord has 5 wires in it... and is wired to accommodate TWO separate grounds. One for AUDIO and one for TX/RX. :bounce: Hard lesson to learn, but I've got it now......

Naw, just throw it in the junk drawer, you never know when it might come in handy. I've got so many mics I normally wire them directly for the radio, only takes the time for the soldering iron to heat up to change it for a different radio, I've even rewired the mic jack on the oddball 4 pin radios ...

Now your talking a different scenario, most 4 wire D104's won't work right on a 5 pin Washington (or Cobra) but I have seen the D104's that have been wired for electronic switching that have worked using the adapter. It probably is something in the adapter, maybe a wire broke, worth checking it out...

:bounce: Guy, from what I'm seeing in your location, it would be real easy to add 20 to 24 feet to your existing mast, depending if you used 10' or 12' sections. I think that would make a world of difference to your all around operation, local or dx, JMHO AND GOOD LUCK.

:bounce: I've tried the cb on 2 other vehicles and had the same issue. With you above statement, I believe I would look @ bad connections such as solder joints in the mic pin connectors ( as you mentioned ). :bounce: As already mentioned dirty contacts. NAPA (auto parts) sells a good tuner spray cleaner, it's quick drying as well. JMHO.
