Super Scout Base amplifier

Post by slipkid »

Hello
I just received a Super Scout amp and I am in need of a schematic . Also a operations manual would be good as well.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Best I can do is say the manufacturer was SOS Electronics, CB Tricks has it listed but no info.

What I've found says it is 4 6JG6 tubes driving 6 or 8 6LQ6 tubes. Because it has driver tubes, 4w DK on AM and 12w SSB is about what the amp should run. Yes the radio can have a little AM swing, probably less than 18w and limit SSB to 25w PEP. Nothing special about tuning, adjust the load and tune for maximum output then back off the load slightly. Remember it is an old "sweep" tube amplifier, overdriving them make you sound like crap and splatter all over the place.

That is what i thought myself about the amps drive requirements. I was just hoping i could find a owners manual for my manual collection. I can look in the amp and run some tests to draw up a schematic.
Thanks for the help. The amp looks like it is new. I will recap it if necessary and check all the tubes on my B&K 707 tester.

working great with my ratsnest tram. tubes a little soft 150 swinging to about 700 .
thats about where i have my grid drive set at.
sweep tubes are fine if you don't overdrive them.
been recapped. christmas present from my stepdad.
got plenty of spare tubesas well.

That is what I tell everyone that gets one of those old tube amplifiers, drive it mild, not wild, and the tubes will last a long time. The receiving end won't see the difference a hundred watts makes.
