Pre amp and SW radio

I purchased a new Maco pre amp and was on 27.205 ch. 20! When I cut the pre amp on I could hear what sounded like radio Havana along with a beacon of some sort. With amp off I could not hear anything, with it on I could hear SW. Anyone experience this?

Channel 20 must have been really quite, what you were hearing was harmonic or spurious emission from that AM broadcast station, it does happen, the DJ probably turned up to power so his girlfriend in the states could hear him. I would check the grounds on he antenna, coax, and if you don't have one on the radio or preamp add them too.
