Looks like there are at least three wires on that jack. Is it supposed to switch between power levels? Maybe a pre-amp? Some other feature that you can turn on/off? I think I'd go back to where ever it came from and 'whine', 'snivel', 'cry' till I got the remote. Or at least a schematic or an explanation.

Psst - that 'whine'/'snivel'/'cry' thingy really works if you're under 12 y.o. or ever 60! Been field testing it at Wal-Mart...

The amp that is pictured has 4 connections, I would venture to say two wires are for a pre-amp or SSB delay and the other to are to turn it on. If your amp only has two wires going the remote jack, it is an open circuit (off) just make a cable with a SPST toggle switch, closing the circuit turns the amp on. To make sure I'm right a pic or two would help.

pin 1 is ground.
pin 7 is amp control, when put to ground, amp will not function.
pin 8 is ssb timing, when put to pin 7, relay has a delay.
pin 4 is 13.8 volts.
