I just picked up this Dave Made Amp 6 pill and it had like bacon grease or chicken grease all inside of it you can see the grease in the photos what the hell. Way would you have it right next to where your cooking makes no sense to was suppose to be a good one I should have looked at it better. did some checking around in it after I cleaned it up and 4 of the pills are bad this sucks. where is the best place to by pills for this thing at a good price with out getting junk. They say ebay is the worst place to by them. the guy said it would do 2000 watts don't see that maybe 1500 I don't know don't know much about these amps

If you want it to last after its been repaired run it around 200 watts deadkey 600 to 800 pep. It will do alot more but you'll be buying pills again. To fix it properly isn't cheap.

I won't buy 2879s anywhere but rfparts. For that amp I'd buy a matched set of toshibas. They are pricy so don't just replace them and key it up hoping for the best. All caps and resistors need to be tested and replaced if theres any questions about them. Then the LC network on the input and output needs to be checked also. Then replace the pills.

If you don't want to put that kind of money in it sell it for parts and move on to something else.

greasy huh? well maybe it was used as a cooktop?,, who knows what happened, but , as for fixing the pills, i would replace all 6 and burn them in easily. there may be other circuit problems to check beforehand.
build something else with the old 2 pills, or sell,
look for new pills in a general search(google :puke_l: )them.

I'm guessing it was an online deal you made because if I picked it up locally and it had an odor I'd have walked away at least there were no critters living in it.

Definitely RF Parts for your supplier of the transistors , You will need a matched set if you want to do it the right way and it's NOT going to be a cheap repair.
https://www.rfparts.com/2sc2879m8.html

The amp is a 2 driving 6 , I cant see what the 2 driver transistors are - They could be 2879's ?

Are you 100% certain 4 of the Transistors are faulty ? Are they visually burnt or are they failing test when unsoldered from the PCB ?

That's definitely NOT a 2 KW amp , It's not even a 1 KW amp - I see 800 watt's there at best .

What sort of meter are you testing them with ?
A multimeter on the diode test range , A multimeter on the transistor test range , or a curve tracer or something else.

They may not be faulty if that is the HFE gain you are measuring - Chances are high that they might not be a matched set of 6 and the fault may be something else ?

I see the burnt resistor at the base of the resistor. But I don't see the resistors on the output combiner burned at all. Hmmm. Usually those burn up as soon as transistor/ pill goes.
