Hi Gentlemen,
I just got a D & A Raider from the '70's.
Any good suggestions on tests, tuning it and setting the band knobs for 11 meter?
I need to set the Load knob with a tiny screwdriver.
All good ideas, suggestions, recollections of uses in prior lives are appreciated.
73,
Mike

Re: D & A Amp
Hmm, the little potentiometer on the back is the grid tune, hopefully no one has played with that, tuning is done using the "Tune and Load" on the front (the switch in the back if not marked should be in the down position).
If it hasn't been used in a while I'd turn it on and not key it up, let the caps make some temperature to liquefy the oil again.
I would make my first adjustments into a dummy load, set the load and tune to center, switch on back to 10/15m, key with just 2 to 4 watts, adjust the load to max on a watt meter then tune, unkey and let it cool down, be quick about it. Keep repeating these steps until the amp shows max output then back off the load a touch to give it some breathing room. When you hook it to a antenna you will have to adjust it again but it will be close.
