WK2's '08 Hummer H3 Setup

#370718

Post by WK2 »

I just wanted to post some pictures of the setup in my '08 Hummer H3. I will be moving the antenna to either the center of the roof or rear of the vehicle after I make the different mounts and see which looks the best. The Radio, Loud Speaker and Shoes are held in place with industrial strength velcro as space is very limited in this vehicle.

:bounce: Dave, I must say you have a nice set-up, it's too bad you have to move antenna. Nice vehicle as well. 3's to you/yours, and a good evening.

I would mount the first antenna you posted about 6-12" from the the rear of the roof. If possible, get yourself a mag mount antenna and use it as a guide to find the best place to put an antenna on the roof. This will keep you from drilling more than once. Just some food for thought. It may tune best dead center, but chances are it will be either more forward or rearward of the center of the roof. Nice looking truck there. And setup as well. Not seen too many running that K40 bcmax antenna you have. How tall is it? Just curious.

Nice install...When I first started reading tho, and you said something about "space being limited in these vehicles" I thought "What? Limited? It's a dang Hummer for crying out!"..........But, then seen were talking about the H3...When I think Hummer, I think of the H1.

Radio should work allot better once you get the antenna on the roof.

1206FL,

For the K40 BCMAX currently as it is turned, from the top of the GP Corona Ball to the where it screws into the mount it's 62" tall. I added the Gunny Pucks Corona Ball to it as it did not come with one.

Excellent looking install, when I mount a radio on the dash I use spiral wrap to keep the wiring neat. When you plan to do the roof mount I would get the puck from the same place you bought the corona ball, his pucks are excellent, comes with a decent backing plate, and the thread portion is SS, others are just brass, less likely to strip out if you do a "Boo Boo" and drive under a low obstacle.
