Sears Roadtalker Base

I see one up for bid, VERY little time left. Power cord, but no mic. It is not SSB, but all the controls are slider, with a power button on one side, and 4 on the other side. Is it worth the buy? It's priced less than $20.
...Is this thing working?

Hey..

If you're gonna use it...buy it.

Maybe it was for the better. When using that "Auction" site bid to how much you are willing to part with and it doesn't feel so bad if you get outbid. On an AM base 20 would have been my max.

I bought one of those Roadtalker base stations new when Sears was getting out of it. I set it up at my Dads house way up on a hill overlooking the city with a 1/2 wave antenna and that thing was remarkable! Liked it a lot more than I thought I would and it seemed to get out better than most base stations, did great on skip too. Even the (seemingly) cheap plastic desktop mike worked great. I could lock it and lean back in my chair and talk from 5 feet away without problems. Good radio. I think it's still somewhere in a box. Wish I knew where. I'd have given 30 for it. I think mine was SSB, Did they make it in a sideband?

And Bombero ... NO Cupholder????
