Proposed A99 location

I'm planning to locate my a99 at the back of the house about 25 feet away from the tv antenna. I wasn't able to put a ground rod in that area however I'm considering running ground wire from a99 mast to tv mast and then down to ground rod. I've included a picture and a very basic drawing and would like to know what you think. Perhaps it would be better to go on top of tv but that would put me closer to big oak trees. Thank you

Roger that although I should upgrade to pne of those new fangled ones they make.

Don't bother upgrading the TV antenna, the old analog type work fine on the frequencies, digital uses mainly the VHF/UHF bands, you may want to upgrade the coax for it though, it does degrade with time. Remember this is only receiving.
I would put the CB antenna on the roof as close to where coax enters the house and where you have the radio located. If it means moving the TV antenna do so, shorter run with the coax means more wattage is getting to the antenna.

For antenna grounding you want the shortest path to ground. You also do not want sharp bends or angles in your ground wire. Consider the circuit path of your proposed ground wire. Should either of your antennas get a lightning strike the plasma stream could run the entire length of your wire which appears to be on your roof. JMO but that doesn't appear safe to me.

Copy that, I didn't realize how lame that idea was, Thank you Sir! Think I will replace mast at existing location and blow off tv ant. for now.

Why not just put the A99 above the TV antenna? You may have to do some reinforcing for the additional wind load, but that would allow you to kill two birds with one stone.

Hank, I gotta go with MDY for location, closer the better. My Shakespeare Big stick is about in the same enviornment as your A99, close to back door with the exception I may have another 12' section than you do. I live on about 3 acres with lots of huge old trees close to the house, but really good reception. Good luck.

I wasn't sure if that would cause an swr issue but other than that I have no problem putting them together.
I'll plan it out so the tv can be attached at a latter time. Thank you

I would put the A99 on top of the TV deal as mentioned. You might even get a little extra length of pipe on top of it too, strength permitting, maybe some guy wires if you do that and a sensible ground too.
There is nothing wrong with the CB antenna over the TV antenna.

Not much, I may go for the mast tomorrow and order the Jefa Tech 400 cable but if I'm to be honest it's looking like an ecd of July or August.

I hear you. I finally got one of my mobile amps back inline last weekend. I pulled it out 4 or 5 months ago to make a quick repair.

I use the same coax BTW. The insulation around the center conductor is a little harder to strip than it should be but it seems to be good cable.

I have a spool of their 213 stranded core coax. They are only an hours drive from my house, no I don't use their connector. I use Amphenol PL-259's. If you use a hair dryer and warm up the jacket, it make screwing the connector on easier.

I do not usually but I have bought theirs and they are just fine. I use the Amphenol brand when I can. I also bought a lot of the better Radio Shack silver type ones before they went under and they work well too.

I will have to try that, I bought some because I have to take my beam down and am going to replace from under the rotating section back with the 400 but going to use the 240 for the rotating section.
