Re: Base Antenna Question?
Is there markings or anything that tells you the name brand?
The only thing I can find is that it looks very similar to a police scanner antenna.

Re: Base Antenna Question?
It could be a scanner antenna, or 2 Meter antenna....Here's a similar 2 meter base antenna...800-900MHz antenna's look similar to that too.
And no, it won't work with a CB....

Re: Base Antenna Question?
I haven't a clue, only thing that short would be for 70cm ham band. A true CB base station antenna would be at least 9ft (2.75m) for a 1/4 wave and 18ft (5.48m) for a 1/2 wave. Look through the forum at those who have built their own dipoles, they work well too.

Re: Base Antenna Question?
i have seen similar designs, i would not use it on CB.
what you need for a base antenna is the biggest piece of ungrounded metal you can find,
hook up to it, just dont transmit, and see if you can get any better receive.
a crazy experiment but hey,,, thinking outside the box sometimes helps realize what is needed.
