Any Bow-Hunters here?

Post by Trouble » Sunday, 15 June 2008, 13:06 PM

Any Bow-Hunters here? I own a Matthews Switchback and love it. It is much better than I am at putting arrows on target.
Also looking for any tips on tuning such an animal. Shoots @ 4" groups at 35 yards but I noticed uneven wear on my arrow rest (NAP Quicktune 360 with brushes upgrade).

Used to shoot a Black Bear Hunter re-curve. 60lb pull with a 27" draw. made my own arrows etc. I was a killer at the range but could never seem to bring myself to shoot a live animal.

Switchback here. I hardly ever hunt with a gun any more, just when I go out west. I sold my switchback, gonna get a new Mathews or a Ross.

I have only been bow hunting for about 3 years now and love it. Haven't had any close enough encounters with it to bag a deer yet, but I can't wait. Well I take that back, the ones that have been close enough have been too small or I am giving them another year to grow.

I have a Hoyt UltraSport. Sweet bow. When I was practicing all the time I usually had sub 3" groups at 20-25 yards. But I was shooting all the time then. I still hit the kill zone all the time now, but not as tight as I was shooting. Me and a buddy of mine would pin a jack antenna ball to the heart area on the 3d deer target we had and nail it from 20-25 yards. We would shoot 3 arrow groups and clip if not drill that jack ball with at least one arrow each time. We had absolutely no life that year. Lol.

Bulldog68 Backin out.

Porch Boy,

I have that exact tuner. Just need to get out there and string some arrows I guess!

yep i hunt and shoot target with a matthews Q2, as far as tuning you can also do it with a string taped on the center of the risers. you want to make sure that the site, and rest are in line with the string

I havent hunted yet, but my dad got his first bow this year, some kind of matthews. Ive been target shooting and will go out next season. My dad got 3 whitetails this year though, dont remember the specs but they were all big bucks. Pretty good for a first season I suppose. We got the freezer stocked with meat, got a mount being done also. What i really would like to do is go hog hunting with a bow someday.
