2980
Any thoughts on why a 2980 during alignment calls to Connect frequency counter to TP3. Adjust L19 to 17.360 MHz ± 300Hz. and i get reading in the 16MHz ? is the 17Mhz a misprint if not any ideas on whats causing it not to be able to dial in to specs? Thanks.

Re: 2980
If you look at the alignment specs for a Super Star 158EDX, almost the same board, (D board instead of a C), it says TP#3, adjust L19 to read 16.2675 +/- 20hz , that is to set the lower sideband frequency. The one you have seems to be rather loose at 300hz. Double check to make sure the band switch is on the right setting too. Check a couple other radio specs using the EPT690010C board and compare them.

Yes I know , read them and then started comparing with other radios sharing the same board. I am guessing a misprint, you might want to email RCI and ask.

Re: 2980
So the audio is bad but is it on frequency, L19 is to adjust lower sideband frequency. What does it read with w 1kc tone and on an external freq counter.

Re: 2980
Does the 2980 have echo, I don't remember, but it sounds like a problem in the echo board, or maybe a modulation kit installed.

Re: 2980
I talked to a friend today that has a Galaxy 99V, older model like a 2001, and it has the same problem, it has a warble in the audio, it's not voltage related I don't think, but it sounds fine on AM. Let me know any findings. He is trying the same things as you are.
