I live north of Texico NM a few miles, but my shop (where I spend most of my time) is right on the state line in Farwell, Tx. I make a trip to Lubbock about 3 times a month and have heard Warwagon, 747, and others I can't remember names for. There are lots of cb'ers there in Lubbock. I have hollered for North Texas Mudduck a couple of times but never got any answer.

at 35 miles they are pretty hot at me and for me setting up 747
hes now the loudest cobra 139 going into a varmint xl 1000
with a v-5/8 at 65 feet in the air
at a maco m-104 on the flatside

got him set with a antenna switch to go from vertical to horizontal and then can run both V and H
this V and H really pizzes the locals off

and since they cant buy anything then they just talk about us
cb around here stands for Constantly Bawling

so when i turn my beam toward lubock an drop about 3500 bird watts at them it gives a few of them a 8 to 9 S-unit
this is 38 miles

when im talking to 747 his on either H pointed right at me
then im giving him like 10 to 15 s-units
ad he gives me about a 7 to 9

so unless someone pumps up around lubbock to give him 15 or more S-units or under his antenna
then me and his conversation will continue

so i can own the channel if i want to
and they can keep bawling

its funny on the days the ducks get paid
they go buy a amp then try and key on me run it for about a week or 2 and realize its not working so then htey sell it for half what they bought it for and get their next weeekend fix or buy some more beer or smokes or little of all 3

its all fun until someone gets keyed on then its funny cuz what they just bought didnt work

I was rolling down near Alvin and League City tonight and hopped on 21. I asked how this Cobra 19 was getting out. I got a come back from Red Barron and talked to a few other guys. Later I told them I was talking on my General Lee. One of the guys on the air said something about that not being very nice what I did. Red Barron then keys up and goes "You just got Shafted!" Even my wife busted out laughing.

Usually Dollar-98, but since I was a kiddo I had several early on, then the dr.dx deal since about 86 I guess, maybe a little earlier. I toyed with others for fun like Lobo, Hobo, Globe Chief, Shadow etc., back in the 80's with the Garland/Richardson crowd. I've been up to the north for a decade and don't operate much as I have no commute and radio is dead up here. I'll hit the 15 scene on the weekends when I roll south to drop my kiddos off at grandma's house. I was very active in Garland with the Rock-n-roll gang with TY (Tx yankee, I know that whole family well, dated half his daughters at one time or another), Aunt Jamima crew was there, Mushroom Cloud, Beachboy, Clay Allison, etc., then the fake hole in the wallers rolled in trying to imitate the original ones. We operated on 4 back then but jumped around and would frequently hit Plano and talk on 14 as we were all teenagers and that was a big channel, and they bought a lot of amps so it lined my pockets a little. I was the tx star guy and had probably some of the earliest 4 and 8 pill amps of that brand in my area, back in the cash only COD days in the amp scene. I also operated up on 27.615 now and then with that crew. I'm sure you're familiar with many of the names if you were on back then. Jaybird was on with his father (Bullrider) and the mesquite crew up on 30 and 32, White rabbit in north dallas/richardson, Snake doctor down south. The channel 6 guys back then were Texas Jack and a few I've long forgotten. It's lonely out there now compared to the old days, but I yell down on 15 to Paul, Code Red, 925, and a few others.

Hey, you mentioned rock crawlers, not exactly the same, but off road wise I was an active jeeper in the 90's out at 360 and Riverside as well as the other popular local off road spots too, but by then not as much into radio.

Cool I was a transplant to the dfw area from seattle, used to go wheeling at 360 on the weekends 1997-1999
Were you there then, what did you wheel ?

I had a white YJ, then when the TJ's came out in 97 I had a red one, with a winch and lockers, then flooded it too many times and got a blue 99 model. I had money to burn back then, before kids. My friends all had K5 Blazers, so I was the odd man out.

Yes I remember some of the old days. I sure miss the way the radio used to hop.

I remember Texas Jack. He could burn up his Palomar 200 by just looking at it.. :-) Can't count the number of times I fixed his amps. I believe he used a Maco 750 on base. Mid cities here, but mostly on ham freqs. Thinking about putting a CB back in the truck so I can chat with Loose Goose. Anyone remember him?

How big is your radio? I'm 30 miles to the south and about to run a quick errand. I'll be on in a few, that's 8:30PM, on channel 28 AM for about 15-20 minutes.

Thanks for the welcome and numbers to you. Been here in Sherman for about 10yrs and just got a radio back up and running. Had to start from scratch. Picked up a base station Galaxy and an A-99 with a ground plane kit. Just got the base of the antenna about 20 feet up for now. In the process of erecting a tower. 35 feet as we speak got 40 feet to go. I've been sand bagging but got nothing. Hoping there's someone around here to talk to. Back home in Hemet on CH2 there was always someone talking, here...... silence.
