Well Slyguy that's exciting, we should have no problem making contact once your antenna is up. We're probably 30 miles apart so on a clear channel that should be easily doable from my mobile to your base. Now on sideband, maybe base to base but my antenna is terrible. I do have an IMAX that I'll have up now and then at night this winter and then it will be an easy trip. There is another guy with a base between us that goes by catfish. He's in Anna and drives an old beater cherokee with a 4 pill in it, nice guy. Let me know when you plan on getting south and we'll meet up. We have a shop here and I always have junk if you're lacking stuff.

Will do. I just need to sink my guy posts and the rest of the tower can go up. What kind of shop do you have? What channels do you talk on?

Well, when I said "we have a shop" I meant a radio shop a guy has in town, but I do have a lot of junk in the garage and tinker a lot. It is so dead here I really don't talk regularly anywere. I usually just listen around on 19 and when I'm rolling around shooting skip I'm on 28 or wherever the action is. I'm always ready to talk, with a decent mobile, but have no one to talk to. The locals are few and far between and most are a little jerky. I'd love a good local scene or maybe an ssb crew that got on now and then.

That would be cool if we can start some local traffic out here. This is real different from what I'm used to.

Sounds like we would get along just fine. I also have a shop I do some tinkering in. It's only 30x40 but I have a jet engine, a tractor, building an airplane, generators, a bunch of old airplane parts, ect. Love to tinker.

He always has them laying around, not sure on price. Hey, tonight, I'm going to be travelling from Mckinney over to Mt. Pleasant across hwy 380 then to 30 east. I'll be on the road from about 9pm to 11 driving over there, and returning later. I'll be on channel 28 if you want to give me a shout Slyguy, and anyone else that may be around via local or skip.

Yeah, i say it both ways, but usually just use Dollar-98. It is nice and cool out so I should have some nice voltage coming out of the old load boss alternator.

Hey, since we're talking distance, I'll activate my roger beep. I'll bump it twice now and then so you'll know its me. If the skip is rolling we'll be hosed but if it is clear we have a chance. Where from sherman are you, to the east, south, ??

Hey Slyguy, I yelled out for ya and at once thought I heard something. Then, I rolled down to 6 and noticed Ohio was coming in, so I rolled back up to 28 and grabbed 444 in Ohio and talked with him a few exchanges, so if you were out there you may have heard that. I'm beat, I ran over into deep east TX last night 130 miles each way with my wife for her work and got home at 3 am. If I'd have known, I would have got Ram to get on. I was so far east I was on top of the Longview area. From his Blanchard, La. location we may have had a chance.

I used to live in your area and talked to Sherman with a barefoot mobile on a regular basis. There used to be some guys in Denison on ch 17. Sometimes they used ch 32, 27.485 or 27.635. There used to be a couple of guys on the Oklahoma side of the lake that ran ch 25. I make it up there for the weekend every couple of weeks and will give you a shout next time I'm there. What channel do you use?
