29LTD Classic MOSFET DIY

Post by jd83864 »

I searched, and came up empty. Does anyone have a step by step Process for swapping in the IRF520 into a 29LTD Classic. Pictures would be appreciated. I found the paragraph explanation from dtbradio but it leaves a lot to be desired as far as clarity. I ordered a 5 pack of the Mosfets and have a pretty wide assortment of resistors, caps and diodes from a few years of electronic tinkering and the clearance sales at radio shack recently. I would just like a little more explanation than what is supplied from the dtbradio blurb that is often reposted. It appears the eBay sellers have an instruction guide they supply when you buy the kit from them, if anyone had a copy of this it would help a lot.

Thanks,
-Jim

Replace final with an IRF520
Replace R56 with a 470-ohm resistor in series with a 1n914 the banded end towards front of the radio
Remove C53 and solder it across C59
In C53's place solder a 3.3k resistor
Remove C 61 and solder it across C62
Remove C126
Remove R55 solder a 22pf cap in its place
Remove the slug from L14
Replace C71 with a 33-47uf cap
Turn VR4 counterclockwise fully.
Tune L20 and L17 for best PEP when modulated
Turn VR4 to half way point.
