Browning Mk 3 receiver

Ever notice distortion on the Mk.III receiver.Read a post on yahoo groups tube radio collectors that suggests clipping the diodes SD1 and SD2
They are both contained in a black unit...once disabled it opens up the receive beautifully and eliminates all distortion.Give it a try..you wont be disappointed and easily reversed if you choose.I found the improvement a great asset to the already outstanding performance of this old beauty.

Just clipped D205 on the Mk.IV and it made an incredible improvement on the receive...definitely recommended

In reality those two diodes are acting as a clipper especially on strong signals and they introduce a high level of distortion in the receive audio.Dont really understand why they are there and with them out of circuit the result is quite impressive ...cant imagine leaving them tied in
