Amateur licence

Well I'm sorry to say that I'm gonna go sit my amateur foundation licence over here in the uk.. Swore for years I wouldn't do it.. But I may be getting soft in my old age.. Will keep you all posted on my progress.. Let the studying begin !!!!

Yes, there are advantages to Amateur Radio like there are with Citizen's Band.

I like it because you can almost always find conditions on one of the Meter Bands when flares occur, etc.

Plus in Amateur Radio you can talk through satellites and a bunch of other ways.

You will not be sorry you did it. There are hobbies inside of the hobby once you get your license. Lots of fun to be had.

Well where do I start.. Just been so busy with work and home life, not had s chance to book test... Maybe just maybe after my trip across the pond I'll get round to it..

I took mine last month. it's opened up a whole new world of radio for me. I wish I had taken mine a few years ago instead of waiting so long. as long as you study and dedicate yourself its easy. I used hamtestonline and it only cost 24 bucks and worth every penny. it drills the questions in your head to where you cant help but learn. a book would cost that much and not as fun to read. ham is nothing like I thought it would be. I was talking on 10 meter propagation last week and received my first legit qsl card in the mail just the other day. I bought a 2 meter rig and have been talking on it a lot now on local repeaters. I thought programming repeaters would be hard but I figured it out in 5 minutes. I love it and you'll be glad you took the test once you pass it. right now all have is the Lincoln 2 to talk ssb on 10 meters and a yaesu 2900 2 meter but I see a lot of money being spent in the next 12 months on some high quality HF equipment once I get my general. what I like about 2 meters is it's mostly family men/women that's been around a while and its "clean" and kind of reminds me being on a telephone party line. most of all its fun. good luck on your test.

Well I finally started the practical side of my amateur radio licence.. Shouldn't be long now that I've finally got round to finding the time.. Won't be long till I'll be giving a call on the amateur bands.. Now where's my long wire !!!
