i have a wilson 1000 with its permanant mount on the roof of my pickup, after unscrewing it, taking it off, i find it has 100% conductance between the outer and inner of the (ant.)base-load.(the ant., not the puck), i dont think its supose to be that way, is it? suprised me. this install is only 2 months old.

The load of the antenna is going to show a short because it has shunt, cap, capacitance coil, whatever they want to call it, I would call it a shunt.

thanks MD, interesting to know that, i have seen that on several ant.s and i guess i should have assumed this one was built that way.
and later i got an email back from their rep saying exactly, that it is a shunt feature.

Most of the more expensive antenna manufacturer's call them shunts, others use other terms. If you are starting to experience some SWR raise it could be getting water/moisture in the load and after a day in the Arizona sun it dries out.
