4 Pin to 5 Pin Adapter On Uniden Grant XL

#387649

Post by Tx1Tek »

Hi everyone.
I just joined the board. I used to sideband from Alaska when I lived there in the 70s in Fairbanks, but been out of it for quite some time. I have a Uniden Grqnt XL I'll be using as a base and mobile for now. I purchased a 4 pin Astatic mic and didn't realize my radio is a 5 pin. would it work to get a 4 pin to 5 pin adapter, or will I be missing something?

Hello Tx1Tek,
Welcome to the forum. It's your choice, either the adapter or rewire the mic to a 5pin plug, I prefer the latter because the adapter hanging out the side is easily broken off. Just ask for the pin out. As a new member can you post a intro in the "Welcome to the Forum" topic, http://www.cbradiotalk.com/viewforum.php?f=89 , so others can say "Hi", thanks.

Hello. If you are not comfortable wiring on a new plug, an adapter will work fine. I have an adapter on my Uniden Washington.

Howdy Tx1Tec,

Sure thing, I use an adapter on my President Washington with the Silver Eagle and
I have an adapter jumper cable on my Cobra 142 GTL with the Night "K" Eagle.

They work wonderfully.

73,

Mike

I had about the same question in my mind. My favorite mic id my d-104 power mic and I have 2 radios now that I will be using. Eventually I will get a Galaxy Saturn or Cobra 2000. I don't really want to buy a d-104 for each radio so I was curious if I could get/make adapters to use the 5 pin Astatic on my other radios. I'm not near my Guardian but I'm thinking it is a 2 pin.
