Cobra 29xlr expo 100 I kit questions

#408880

Post by dss56 »

I finally got my boards and xtals from China after 2 months.

I put a kit together these are for all the upd pll858 AM cb radios.

I installed 1 in a cobra 29xlr kit works great 40 up or 40 down.

Problem is these AM radios with the 858 do not tune well for power.

Is there any tricks to broadband the 858 AM radio to cover the channels with decent power.

I set up a low kit so 40 channels below 1 and from channel 40 down to 26.515 kinda hard to get decent 4 watts from 40 to 26.515.

any help appreciated.

Dont know of any good mods for that radio. It is limited to AM and since I do a lot of SSB I have never tried one.
A small kicker might give you what you want ... just dont go to big.

If you are looking for a really good radio that needs no mods check out the Anytone AT-6666.

I think you miss read my post.

I am looking for someone who might have info or done some mods to the 858 pll AM radios to make them broadband better than the stock VCO and transmit circuit.
I have added a Expo 100 I kit that I will be selling on my FB page and seems the kit installed to go 40 chs below 26.955-26.515 does not tune well for power from top to bottom.
Im not interested in any ssb radios just for these AM radios for channel kits.
