I Picked up a New (new to me) Base radio a few weeks ago.I was wondering what ya'll guys think.I hooked it up to my dosy meter here is what i have come up with.Base is a Galaxy DX 2517 with power turned down it dead keyes 3 watts swing to 30,set for dead key of 10 watts swings to 40,turn all the way up deadkeyes 19 wings to 50.Is this what it should be doing.Or has it been all peaked out?I have no clue what was done to it .Or should it be doing more? In any event I really like this radio.

What you see on the wattmeter depends on the meter you are using. My meter (Bird 43) would not show anything like that. I would guess that it is one of the later models and that what you are reading appears to be about what a Dosy, Astatic or PDC meter would read. Your deadkey to swing power ratio appears a bit high but many meters tend to do that. Does your meter have a RMS setting? Peak = RMS x 1.414.

Sorry, it appears I have once again gotten away from the point. Your question answered - yes, I would say that that radio is doing an excellent job. What really counts - what do the people you talk to say? After all, it's why we do this isn't it?
