Well here is what happened, My son is in the airforce and is stationed at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City. He is only 18 and couldn't come home for Thanksgiving. My decided that I was to go and see him before I get my other shoulder rotator cup operated on. So I left on the 21st of Nov. 09 to go see him and spend some time with him. Well as I was traveling on Interstate 40 east bound and was only 40 miles west of Oklahoma City and gave a shout out on channel 35 to the locals in Albuquerque, NM. With a surprise, the whole channel woke up and people from all over were telling me that I wasn't going to get back to NM with my mobile and to stop trying because I was covering up some of the area bases. Well as I was talking to these people in Oklahoma, the radio came alive and several of my CB buddies from Albuquerque came in and told me that I was doing a great job and that they couldn't even hear the other bases. We talked for about 25 miles going into town and the locals were truely upset that I was in a mobile talking to the bases in Albuquerque,NM and that they weren't being heard. They kept saying that I couldn't be on a mobile radio. But the skip was good.

Then on the way back to Albuquerque, NM I was able to reach all of my buddies and my wife and she was in her mobile talking back to me again the locals couldn't beleive that I was in my mobile talking back to all the locals in Albuquerque. I was running a Ranger SuperStar 33 and a Palamar 350 and a wilson 1000 mag mount antenna.

I am having my son bring back his radio equiptment that I installed into his truck to be re-calibrated so that he can get out and be heard with the rest of the family. Skip has been renning for that last two weeks from Oklahoma City around 8:00pm MST.

Sounds like that was a perfect moment in time for you on that road trip, and thats really exciting to when you can over take a base station like that, makes you feel really good! Nice set-up you got too! Dave :bigsmurf:
