Weird dimmer problem?

#268343

Post by audio boy »

hi guys well my Galaxy 73v blew the original light bulb in the radio so i replaced it with a 3 mm blue led, now my dimmer doesn't work for some reason, is it because i went from light bulb to led, the dimmer worked fine with out the led, i can have the dimmer off and every thing is still on but if i remove the led every thing works fine, the led is already a 12v so i dont know what's going on, any help?

An incandescent light bulb always draws more current than an LED (even with a ballast resister), so I would tend to think that the dimmer circuit isn't built to handle that low of a current drain. Then again, there are more than one way to do a dimmer circuit, so how to 'cure' that problem is a mystery to me. Of course, I could always guess at it and let you burn up something! Wanna try that??
