opinions on echo, echo, echo

#26548

Post by darkhorse »

To be blunt, I don't like echo. I don't want it in my radio, and I don't like it in other radios because it makes it hard to understand people sometimes. But what do you guys think? It seems a lot of truckers seem to think that because you echo, you have a good radio. I've heard people ask for a radio check sound like a they are in a football stadium, and everyone else comes back saying it sounds great so I usually keep quiet. Once I heard someone ask, but no one answered. It was pretty bad and I told him I saw the needle move, but all I heard was echo. He did dial it down though and sounded much better, while still getting out good.

I don't mind echo as long as it is set good. Long repeat and delay is aggrivating.

I USE MINE, I SET THE ETONE ABOUT 11 O'CLOCK AND THE ECHO IS BARELY TURNED ON. NOW IN SAYING THAT IF SOMEONE IS ACTING STUPID AND CURSING A LOT JUST BEING A TOTAL BUTT WHOLE THEN THAT'S WHEN I TURN EVERYTHING UP ALL THE WAY TO SHUT THEM UP.

I like it but as stated it needs to be set right. I have no problem telling someone to turn it down. New radio guys tend to be the worst in my oppinion. especially with the wrong mike and talk back up way to loud then you have echo echo and then and echo echo of the echo echo. I tell them straight out what they sound like and many times we go up a couple and work on it untill its clear. I dont mind if someone needs me to adjust it. I mean its on a knob and some times it can get bumped or moved and before you know it it it it it it it it it it it it it you you you you you you sond sound sound sound sound sound like that.

Phaze I made up my mind I am gonna take the time and make it perfect then use a tiny inky dot as a marker just put a small dot and it will be easier to get back to the right point....................I think

Good reference there Mississippifrog!

10% or so echo is clean sounding, and adds depth the audio sound.

You almost have to kick it up to 20-30% to get respect from some truckers.

20-30% will get you ignored by many base stations.

50% or more, and Moses will come looking for you.

I don't mind a tad of it either. I do mind the annoying over echo though...especially if they are over mod!
