Needing info RCI 2980

Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone had any good info or where to find info on an RCI 2980. I have already been to cb tricks and they don't have much of any use to me. Anything you could tell me about this radio would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance! ps. I would like to know how to reattach the talk back...someone must have clipped it.

I have a 2980. I believe that D-17 being clipped is what gives you talkback. You can replace it, resolder it or add a on/off switch like I did. I'm not 100% positive but it'll be in the right rear with the face of the radio facing you. If that ain't it let me know and I'll open mine up and look.

Is yours the WX? I have looked inside of mine and D17 is not at the right rear of the radio. Would you mind opening yours and looking to see where yours is clipped?

Thanks for the advise.... sorry it took me a bit to get back in to check on my posts.... the poor old pc has been ill. Mine is not the WX, no weatherband. But I will totally look to see if I have that D-17. Thanks again!

I am not sure but i dont think its D17 i think the diode is D80 you might check that one should be by the audio transformer . have a good one
