WR-897 DIED AUG 15, LOOKING FOR HIS VOICE...

You can put a videogate, watergate on Putfile or YouTube, and put the URL links in your post. Anyone can get a free account on Putfile to store their gates, and it even gives you the BB code to post in your message for the link.

WR-897 DIED AUG 15, LOOKING FOR HIS VOICE...

#290836

Post by The Bastage »

WR-897 John passed away from an aneurysm on Aug 15 and left the hearts of friends and family missing him greatly.

I heard him, (World Radio 897) DXing on a couple Watergates (Why aren't they called Radiogates?) a while ago and played them for him before he died, but now I can't find them though I've spent not hours but DAYS listening to everything I could find on youtube. He liked LSB Ch.38 and enjoyed DXing.

If ever you come across his voice please email the link to me at wimpyradios at gmail dot com.

His family & I will be very appreciative!

Of all the radios, (well over 100) that I've owned, I still love the Yaesu
FT-107M best, followed closely by iCOM's IC-761 / IC-751A, not forgetting the Kenwood TS-940SAT.

Sorry to hear of his passing Bastage. They are called "watergates" as a form of sarcasm towards the Nixon scandal of the same name because it involved secret recordings of phone conversations. i.e. recordings of CB transmissions aka "watergates" Make sense now?

Yeah, I follow that, but Radiogates would still hold fast to the "gates" aspect but just seems to me to fit a little better within the hobby of radio.

Either way, I'd love to hear the big guy's voice one more time.
