what is the nuber on the PCB for the driver for the final on the cobra 25? and how come when doing the mod with mosfets the driver has 2 legs to it and fallowing the mod useing the 2SC1969 for a final is says to use the 2SC2314 for the driver and that has three legs ????? i don't get it, how come with one mod the driver has two legs(the mosfet way) and with the 2SC1969 finals the driver has three legs( 2SC2314) can any one shed some light on this for me? or some nice links, but not the link on cbtricks i have read them already and that is where i got the mosfet mod from.

One other thing. Has any one here ever done one of these mods? And why does it say to remove the tuning slug? Removing that slug just seem wrong, like it would mess up the output of the radio

Driver TR8
Final TR7

When doing the ERF-2030 Mosfet modification following the CB Tricks directions the Driver is not being replaced only the Final the component with two legs is the EN-1230 companion part which contains two resistors and a diode it's not a transistor.
Resistor R40 is removed and replaced with the EN-1230 not the Driver.

To change the inductance of L10 the Final Amplifiers RFC.

Thinks night crawler. I must have been misinformed. I was told when swapping finals you needed to upgrade the driver. But htis is good news to me because now i know i have all the right parts to do the work. And the right info

If you follow the directions on cb tricks using the ERF-2030 and EN-1230 it should work.
