Magnum 1012 Modulation Pot
VR5, closest to the outside of the radio next to the large transformer. (There are two right next two each other). Take off the back of the radio and take out the two screws holding the metal plate on the back to get access to it. Rotate it clockwise to increase modulation.

The one next to it is the AM power.
The two side by side next to the function button are allegedly tx display (topmost) and SSB ALC (bottom).
The TX display one doesn't seem to affect anything? I can spin it around while transmitting and don't notice any difference..
SSB ALC controls the power on SSB.
It appears the AM/SSB power ones were set at or pretty close to max. Really need to adjust them with radio on, it'll dip fairly quickly.. I'd probably recommend leaving those alone..
refer to the Albrecht AE2990 service PDFs for the location of all the components on the board. Not much else is labeled unfortunately
I have the FMing on SSB and am going to just do the update myself (1uF tantalum cap and a 2.2k? resistor)..

While the battery packs from Cobra 45WXs and similar will fit, the Magnum is 1/4" or so wider. You'll get a bit of slop if you try to use other accessories from other radios.. If you don't already have the accessories, I would recommend that you buy the official ones and don't try to save money by using one from another radio.. It'll fit, but you won't like the fit..
Did I mention this thing has a roger beep? lol.. Nice clean audio on AM. On the low side doing 200mw swinging to 999mw
Freaked out some locals when I told em I wasn't even doing a watt on the base antenna, lol.. From the audio, they didn't even realize I wasn't on my normal base radio. I have other handhelds that swing a heck of alot more, but they can tell I'm on a handheld from the audio... I'm wondering if it's coincidence or if the audio is indeed better on these.. I can't tell the difference on the scope except for the swing..
