Greetings All,

I am looking to find out what the (Capacitor) does in a resistor and cap mod to lower the deadky. In other words....what is the capacitors function and why does it have to be there when someone does this mod?

Thanks,

Pete

The capacitor doesn't lower the DK or carrier the resistor does.

By putting the resistor and capacitor in series to the collector of the driver which is what's being done in that modification what will happen is the resistor will lower the DC voltage going to the collector resulting in lowering output from that stage and reducing the drive to the final.

What the capacitor does by putting it in parrallel with the resistor is allow the audio which is also a voltage to bypass the resistance at varying rates depending on the modulation percentage and raise or lower the voltage to collector accordingly .

To put it simply the more modulation the more voltage to the collector of the driver and more drive to the final amplifier stage which causes the wattage to increase or decrease with the modulation percentage.
