Got on the radio earlier and asked for a break on channel 24 to test out my new D-104. I had someone come back to me who sounded like a local. Turns out it was 418 in West Virginia and we were able to have short QSO. Also made contact with Unit 44 in Lake Erie, NY on channel 36.
This was a big surprise for me, I'm used to making a very brief contact, but never enough to actually have a conversation. Conditions were just right for a little late-night skip.
