So I wanted to talk on the Drake today so I hooked it up temporarily. Thought some of you would get a kick out of the antenna location as I was talking today.

You better wear your aluminum foil suit before you key it up with any kind of power. 8)

lol yea, I was just running the radio, which does 100 watts. Made contact with a guy in Asheville NC with the antenna in that location. It was on 40m. Once I get the hang of this radio I will be happy lol

Nothing wrong with it if it tunes out. I would try not to run over it too many times with the chair tho, it might crush the coax.

I have to give it to you. That is so cool. Never thought of that. I tried running a dipole in the attic but the electrical wires that run along the bottom of it killed my project. Now all my antennas are in the trees with a little help.

Not sure I can say much. Had some stuff that looked close to that. Didn't have much luck making contacts with it. Glad to hear it worked for you.

Heck PH as windy as it was you should have thrown a kite up in the air to pull the apex up. You'd have been making contacts all along the Eastern seaboard! LOL

Not the first time I've heard someone loading up their antenna on the ground.

Really am glad u posted that. Others can sure learn from it. Some of the local CB folks here think that if you don't have a antron 99 100 feet up, it won't work right. In a pinch, I have used one in a umbrella stand and talked around the world.

I did get it up. For about a month. Made several contacts up around New England but came home from work one day to find one of the legs of the dipole had broken. It was an odd break tho, it resembled a break you get using a pair of wire cutters (think I have a neighbor that dont like it but scared to talk to me about it).... Havent got around to repairing it and putting it back up. Havent had many days off work lately to mess with it.
