Dosy TC-4001 meter readings
I recieved my Dosy TC-4001 in the mail today, I hooked it up and checked swrs and it gave me a reading of 2:1 which compared to my other two meters is way differeńt. My other two meters give me and swr reading of 1.2:1. So I am questioning this meter right out of the box. The reason I bought it was because I wanted a meter with modulation. Does this seem acaptable? Which meter do I trust?? Any advice would be great. Thanks

Hi BigC,
It undoubtingly needs to be aligned, there are adjustments inside. If you have a meter that you are confident is right you can adjust it to that meter or if you have a good tech he should be able to do it. If not here is the address and phone number to the manufacturer.

Trying to check an SWR meter by using an antenna, then comparing it to other meter's readings, is very, very inaccurate to say the least. Would you by chance have a dummy load? That would at least give you some verifiable readings. Otherwise, you could be 'de-tuning' rather than 'tuning' the thing and you'd never be sure which way you went. Meters can certainly be calibrated, but the average person has neither the knowledge or the equipment to do so. Best advice (not the most palatable, just best) is to send the thing back.

Thanks for the info, I opened it up and adjusted the pot for the swr calibration and I could not get it to match any of my other meters. The closest I could get it was to 1.5 and that was with the pot maxed out. I decided to send it back and I purchased a daiwa cn 101L and the new meter agreed with my other meters. I like the new meter instead of calibrating the meter like the other one, it has two needles that show forward and reflected power and where the two needles cross is your swr reading
