No Squelch on Cobra 29 LTD
Hi everyone! I'm new here and don't know much about CB's but I need mine for work. I couldn't find this problem listed.
I have a newer Cobra 29 LTD classic with a Wilson antenna and either a 12 or 18ft gold braided coax in my Peterbilt. Coax is a year old and run smoothly throughout.
Problem is, my squelch isn't working anymore and I can't hear any transmission but I can see the graph move. Once in a while the squelch will come on on it's own but as soon as I go to tune it, it goes away.. almost like a lose connection in the knob. Last year before the squelch disappeared, I was able to hear everyone crystal clear but they couldn't hear me. When I key up the antenna light goes on red. Any idea what the problem may be? Should I get a new CB or does this sound like a simple solution that I'm missing?
Thanks in advance

Sounds like your mic is shorting out, try wiggling the mic end?

Hello shortstack34,
Welcome to the forum. Sorry to give you bad news but it sounds like you have both antenna and radio problems. My best suggestion would be to get it checked out at a shop. If the squelch knob is loose it is possible that it has spun the wiring is crossed. If the antenna light was coming on there is an swr issue.
