Cobra 19--No Transmit
My brother used an older Cobra 19 in his truck for a few years. He knew nothing about setting the SWR or that there was even something called SWR. I now have the radio in my garage. The radio will receive but has no transmit at all. Is this an easy fix for a tech or will it cost more than the radio is worth? Thanks.

The final amplifier transistor probably gave up the ghost if your brother was running it into an antenna with a high swr.
If you knew how to do it yourself the transistor would be around $5 to replace.
If you have someone else do the work you have to figure the cost of the transistor and whatever they charge for labor and shipping if you don't have anyone locally to fix it.
If that's your only option cost wise you might be better off getting another radio.

I have a Galaxy 979 that's doing the same thing...My SWR is about as low as you can get it (1.1), but something gave up. DK is just fine, and when you first hit the mic key and start transmitting you get a split-second of audio, but then it's like your whispering into the Mic from 5 feet away...

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
