hello I have a TRC 465 and I have noticed that sometimes the volume cuts out after sitting like the squelch is turned all the way up it will come back if you key the mic or fiddle with the volume control the meter leds light up so I know that it is receiving a signal odd thing is it dus not do this all the time any ideas? radio is stock no mods thanks

I would start by checking all 10 volt caps or just replacing them the radio is old enough to start showing bad cap syndrome.

Hello Nightwalker,
Glad to see you back on the forum. I think it just needs a shot of contact cleaner on the control pots, volume and squelch mainly. If the radio was stored or in a dusty area the contacts in them get gummed up and with heat make and break contact. You may want to shoot the contacts in the mic also.

YA don't have to really do a full recap but for sure go after the 10 volt ones, up them to 16v or higher look for swelled tops or leakage.

well guys I recapped and cleaned all controls. 10v caps to 25v caps. the radio sounds a lot better and it has not dropped off volume thanks for all the help!!! 73's

Well guys the radio has been working flawless but the other night it started doing it agen this time it did it right off the bat I had no volume as soon as I fired it up until I turned it all the way up then it snapped to life it is not scratchy at all as I'm adjusting the vol and the nod is tight still like New the radio has all new caps any ideas? not shed what to try next
