Need Advice
Hey it's me again...What would be a good radio to talk skip on under $200 dollars. I would like the radio to function as a base for my house. Am I asking the impossible????

Hello 1RebSoldier. You are not asking the impossible. There are several models and brands that will do exactly what you have in mind. You really need to be more specific about your needs with the radio such as SSB or AM only. Cobra 148, Galaxy 979, Connex 3300HP and so on will do the job. The sponsors of CBRT can provide you with those radios and several more. The item that is much more important to your "skip talking" is your antenna. Whether you use some added wattage to assist your signal is up to you. Good luck.

I good antenna would be the ticket for trying skip but most of the time it is sheer luck, the best radio in the world won't be any good without a good antenna.

Exactly, start with the best possible antenna system you can afford to put up and as high as you can safely get it.
You could talk skip with a walkie talkie plugged into a good base antenna BUT will talk to no one with the best radio plugged into a crap antenna.
