FCC Question

Am I reading this right? The FCC stopping all consumer complaints and only stocking a small staff for emergencies?

It is only temporary until our politicians get their stories straight and vote on the budget, Obamacare, and raise their salaries again, oh wait, they already agreed on the last thing.

That is the last thing on their minds. They could care less about us. They are in it purely for themselves.

Makes no difference to my neighbors they never call the fcc on me, they simply destroy my antenna and cut my coax, this went on for years.

They didn't call the FCC because the FCC would laugh at them and tell them they are using cheap connectors on their stereo equipment. That is what happened back in the day with me. I ran 4 watts AM and 12 watts SSB. The FCC came over to my house and and said I was in the clear and told them get better connectors. I was surprised at the time they didn't impose quiet hours on me. Knock on wood. Today I still wonder about my different neighbors because I run at times 1500 watts through three different antennas with a license. I can only ground so much and run clean as I can but the thought will always be there. I think if they ever approached me, I would resolve the problem for them and let them know I am there for them when something goes down and they lose all communications. Thanks for letting us all know about what happened to you. I think I'll stock the yard now with motion detectors just in case something like that happens later. I do run everything stealth over here.

Yup, if you want to key 1 million watts, now is the time. Sad part is those hams that passed their FIRST exam, now have to wait until they open back & get caught up. Upgraded hams can operate with a /upgrade. It is going to be a mess. Atleast they gave a grace period for those who's license expires during the shutdown. But hard to imagine why someone wouldn't have renewed it sooner. But who knows. Later yall.

Just a comment about licensing, taking license tests.
If you want to take a test, do so. It'll just mean a longer wait to get that authorization to operate. If you passed the Tech and want to try for General or Extra, do so! The certificate saying that you passed is still good, it'll be recognized eventually. You can imagine the back-log this 'shut down' will create, and it'll take time to rectify, but it will be. License testing hasn't slowed or stopped.

Yeah I was just thinking about this as I study for my extra. I plan on taking it on the 26th of this month and for some reason it just hit me about the FCC being closed down. Oh well I'll be able to operate as an extra after I pass the test as Doc said. Wonder how long it's going to take to get caught up.
