102" whip vs all other mobile antenna's

disregarding length of any mobile antenna's how does the 102 inch whip antenna compare to other mobile antennas as far as receive and transmit and how much power can be ran through them. Im was thinking of mounting one to my truck right behind the cab so the base of the antenna is just equal to the height of the cab. When driving I would tie the antenna back to tailgate so it won't be flopping around. would use it for a Dxing stationary antenna and use my Larson antenna as my mobile driving around antenna

They claim the 102" whip is the best in pretty much every category and everything else is 2nd as far as performance. Everyone I know that owns one swears by them. You can pretty much put as much power as whatever your coax will withstand from my understanding.

This is a 102" whip on my pickup, total height is 13' 9 1/2", I don't tie it down, transmits and receives like a base, and it's a lot of fun in the mall parking garage, scares the heck out of people.

Nice truck Greg.. I bet it does hit a few things along the way. I have to watch tree limbs and drive through windows with my sirio. it's not as tall as a 102 but almost as aggravating. 222dbfl has a sirio mounted on the top of his work van. One of those top heavy work vans. I bet he hits overpass bridges with his.

I remember a guy in the late 80s had a whip antenna on his truck went to a gas station that had fluorescent lights and broke everyone as he pulled out. It was an old flying A gas station in Hillsboro oregon. Well thanks for the input made my mind up I will be getting 102 inch whip antenna.

Oh what kind and brand of coax do you recommend and would there be A certain/nominal length of coax to use?

the problem is that most installs cant get the 102 mounted in the optimum position on a vehicle,, in that case a good mag mount or hard mount Wilson or sirio 4000/5000 will work better than the 102 that isn't mounted optimum

The sirio 4000 and 5000 will handle a lot of power also. I like mine it's the best performing antenna I've ever owned and it's an attractive antenna to boot and They are easy to fold down for parking garages etc.
