Hwy speeds vs good SWR on a 102
I've read where a 102 " whip can bend at highway speeds and increase SWR, is this a legitimate concern?
Thank you for your time

Its not enough of a problem to worry about. Yes, there is a change, but it isn't a huge amount, and you can see just as big of a change, if not bigger, simply from driving your vehicle in traffic. I've had multiple 102" whips on multiple vehicles and never had an issue with it.
Some people take the smallest things and blow them out of proportion while ignoring other aspects of a situation. With the right equipment, you can see the difference in SWR from vehicle passing 30 plus feet away from your antenna, and even a bird flying right by it. That effect would be drastically increased by having a vehicle approach and pass you (or the other way around) while you are driving. This isn't even the half of it.
I have never had an issue myself from an antenna moving around, or even hitting things for that matter, and I don't know of anyone who has.

My 102" is on the back left corner of my pickup, SWR is 1.16 to 1 on channel 19 standing still, at 80mph the SWR raises to 1.6 to 1 from the antenna leaning back in the drag. Never had a problem, never blew anything up because of the increase either. It's one of those things you just don't worry about.

Pic 1 is the mount I made, the spring was being used to adjust SWR, I was trying to figure out how long of a riser to make.
Pic 2 is a 7ft Antron Skipshooter.
Pic 3 is the ball mount, half Hustler, half Antenna Specialist.
Pic 4 is the 102" whip, RS I think, could be Hustler, use both.

I'm running my 102" on top of my Exploder with a spring and tied a fishing line to the front bumper. It helped with the swing of the antenna but it snaps everytime I hit a tree. lol.
Sometimes you feel like a duck....sometimes you dont.

There was a topic about showing your antenna at speed, that is why I did those couple of YouTube's, I'll look around for it (it's over 3 yrs ago), if I find it I'll be it back to the top.
I looked, must have been a topic that was lost in the site crash, oh well.
