Bit of an update on my set up. I now run my 1X4 in my mobile and for my base station I bumped it up to a 3CX3000A7. I did not build the 3000 but I did build a 4 pill class AB amp as driver. As for the 3000, HOLY CRAP! Incredible.....Before the 3000 I ran a 16 pill class C that I built and I always said if I was going to bigger than the 16 pill I'd move into the steel. I'm so glad I did! My wideband audio sounds incredibly smooth through that tube.
I currently run an RM Italy KL203P on a Uniden 980 SSb tuned to 1.5dk, Cobra HG model 75 power mic that has been modded, and a K40 antenna. I'm very happy with the set up and have gotten very good reports in regards to clarity and volume. I'll soon be running the above through my new Sirio 5000 Fighter Edition and will report back in the Product Review forum. 73's to all and Semper Fi!

Hey..
Tokyo Hy-Power HL 1.5KFX or a Elecraft KPA500 for the Amateur bands, and a RM Italy KL 203P for the 11M mobile.
I don't use an amp in my shack for 11M.

What does everyone think of the Xforce Midnight Specials class C, or the TS 500? Some say class C is best for AM.
In my mobile, Ford CVPI, have a Wilson 1000 mounted on the trunk lid where there was a hole for the former police antenna. Have double braided ground straps from the trunk lid to the body, just to make sure the trunk lid is grounded. Have a 200 amp alternator doing 120 amps at idle, and a Big 4 wire upgrade all in 0 gauge high strand wire.
Radio is a Cobra 29 Phill highly modded, variable power 0-18 watts. I'm looking for 500 watts out the antenna, but no more. Advise please.........thanks all...........73
