uppers and lowers on base

I have a Uniden Washington base that is equipped with USB & LSB as well as AM. Is this the same as uppers and lowers? The reason I'm asking, I saw another Washington for sale on the net that had some extra switches on the side of the cabinet. the explanation for this in the add was uppers and lowers??? please help

yep usb stands for upper side band and lsb stands for lower side band

If you are talking about above 40 and below 1 then that is not the same as sideband.

If the radio already has sideband and there are more switches most likely it is for extra channels.

switches on the side "uppers and Lowers" is 40 above and 40 below standard channels
