Radio & Microphone Issues

Hey all, what's going on? I'm looking for some help since I can't find a CB or HAM radio shop anywhere near Bowling Green. I have two problems. I usually run a Cobra WX-18 w/ a Cobra HG-M84 mic, a Diesel power-noise filter and a Diesel antenna booster. I originally had the setup in a 2000 Ford Mustang but since the Mustang's been in for the winter, I've moved it to my 1987 Mercury Topaz beater. The setup I run works great, until I start the car. Once I start the car, I get a bunch of static (extreme static when the radiator fan turns on) to a point where my receive bar is almost to 30+. I currently have the CB hot-wired off the car's battery and have tried multiple things such as the engine filter, moving the negative (ground) wire to other places in the car and moving the antenna around to minimize the interference.

However, when I remove the antenna, the noise goes away completely. I've tuned the CB and have even tried a different radio (a Realistic) but have found similar results when I turn up the RF gain-- it distorts the incoming messages.

I've asked around and everyone has said it sounds like a grounding problem but I'm coming up short of ideas. :(

Hit me back up?

If the noise goes away when you disconnect the antenna from the radio, then you need to work on grounding your vehicle.
Not necessarily just the negative wire from the radio.
