General radio

I have a general longstreet and its basically the same as a general lee. my radio is putting out really well i mean good. but its not receiving that good. my swr is a 1.1 and im running big coax and all of that. my question is .... there is not a rf gain knob on my radio or any receive gain knob or button. is there a screw i could turn inside to make it receive better? if so where is it? and if not what else might be the issue?
