Lose it to the DOT????? Do you know something I don't? As far as I know the DOT has no jurisdiction over radios, but heck who knows supposedly the local authorities have some power in that arena now.Scary if ya ask me,but oh that's right no one asked me :? Shawn

they lose them if someone breaks in a steals it.

as far as built in amps inside radios: if ya want the most power, a radio with seperate amp will put out more power when comparing pills to pills. If ya dont have the space though, the built in amp sure is nice as long as she can keep cool good enough.

The story goes that the FCC has granted power to state and local authorities to enforce the rules and regulations of the FCC. The only guys have have known to get busted were the fools who were crossing the scales at the same time they were talking on a high powered radio. One strong enough to interfere with the DOT cops radios. Also if you are bleeding across into ham freqs or talking on channels that you should not be.....low side then they can come to your house write you a ticket or confiscate your equipment. Now as i said this is just talk among the Internet chat rooms and stories from a few truckers so you take it for what its worth.
