recommended dual final radio
well I'm looking at future radios and I'm looking at dual final radios with ssb which have good options for upgraded finals with frequency display or the option of adding a frequency meter. It's not going to be anytime soon as I am going to work with the cobra 29 I have already. Thanks in advance for any suggestions or advice.

Much of that answer depends on if you plan on/or desire the use of sideband.
If no...then a General Lee, Connex 3300hp are both great radios. You can
add freq displays to them. If you want a freq display...then some of the Galaxy
exports or the S-6/680 radios from Magnum will get the job done. I run a Stryker
on AM and have had nothing but good reports.
If ssb is important...look into a 2950/2970 or my personal fav...a 2510. Send it
to Doc or rogerbird and it will come back swinging 50+ loud watts on AM and will
still be very smooth and stable on ssb.
Have fun!

thanks for the help guys. I'm really getting into this, much to my fiance's dismay. I just wanted some opinions on radios that you guys run that match what I want. I don't want to waste money on echo, roger beeps and other over abused toys like that. I just want a powerful radio with ssb and a few other useful options. I'm not saying that all the toys are useless just not very appealing to me. To each their own. Thanks for the help once again.

Superstar SS158Ed, by Ranger hands down. Dual Finals, SSB, Freq. counter, and it's a Ranger! Under $250, ($225 @ GI Joe's)
Get a Road King 56 to go with it, and this is one nice radio...Blue or Red L.E.D's...I have the Blue LED one, and get complements all the time on it.

i agree with preacherman. I have a doc tuned 2510 and get about 55w am and ssb. variable knob put in on swr cal knob, also controls ssb output. nice reports, I am liking it.
I just got a magnum 257 and I am digging it so far.

Just an opinion
Mr. RA gives them a good grade on value. He compares them with the Connex 4800's as far as what they offer. I was lookin at a Connex 3300, but i might be leaning here..SSB is fun to talk on...

On the other hand...It's not a "Dual Final" Radio, but it can be used with allot of the same amps that you can use the dual final radios with.
I just bought a New Galaxy 93t. My original 93t, which was one of the first sold in the U.S. when they first came out a few years ago. And has been starting to show it's age some...I think the thing has had probably over a dozen guy's with their Golden Screwdrivers stuck in the back of it over the years...(Mainly because of the guy who did the first "Peak & Tune" on it where I bought it, didn't have a clue on what he was doing...and ever since then, I have had others try to fix what he screwed-up!)
Anyway, I really like the fetchers on the radio, so I decided to go with another one...Little did I know that Galaxy has made some improvements on the 93t, that for some reason none of the shops that sell them, are advertising!
The New Galaxy 93t's LED's have been changed to the Cool "Blue" LED"s! And the meter light is also Blue, changing to Red when Transmitting.
The Talk-Back also seems to be improved. Along with the Echo...
Now granted, my old one wasn't exactly operating at 100%, but this new one has some serious punch to it...
If I were in the market for a New Radio, I would defiantly recommend looking into the Galaxy 93t... If your planning on running your radio with a Amp, this is one hot radio...
It has one 2290 final in it, and you can set the Power level on "Low" to 2w's, then into a something like a 2x2290's, or 2x2879's, or a 4-pill, or like I do, and run it with a 2-2290's x 6-2879's...
I also noticed that on the New 93t, SSB seams to be allot more stable, than on the older model.
(IMO)

The superstar 158edx is the same price, but has a frequency counter. Maybe the 45MP has more beefy finals.
As far as the dx93t, it would be hard to beat it if you're willing to put out a little extra dough.
As far as the rci2950/2970, doesn't have a real S-meter.
anybody have info on the RCI 63FFC2 ?? I see it on clays radio site. it looks like it has an amplifier heatsink on its bottom.

No. Mater-a-fact, only way your going to see them come on at all, is if you set the radio on "High", and then DK the Mic for a few minutes....Jesse do the twin turbine fans run all the time? I have yet to see mine go on.
I wondered the same thing when I got my first 93t...Since I never herd them come on, figured they were busted! But If you set the radio on High, and watch the fans, after a while you'll see the fans start to turn...
Now whether or not they are actually doing anything is a different story! :D

Thanks Jesse. That's the only thing I was worried about. I mounted it in my slip seat box and cut out the back of the box where the fans are to give it ventilation. But never saw the fans come on. As far as the dx93t. We cant run amps in our trucks. The big radio of choice at work is the galaxy 99. The 93t blows them 99`s away. When I get back to the yard I hear stuff like. Man that radios loud we heard you from all the way over there. Or. We knew you were talking to someone, but you were the only one we could hear.
