Cobra 2000 question

#255365

Post by tx213 »

I have a 2000 that works great on AM, but SSB is acting up. SSB is great for about 1/2 hour until it warms up then it gets really staticy like bad power line interference. I mean all the way to the wall passed the +30 bad. So bad I was talking to a guy 2 miles from me and I could not understand what he was saying. Any ideas what is wrong? I unhook the coax it is still there, change outlets it is still there, tried a power supply and it is still there.

Thanks, 213

hey guys need help

well i have a realistic trc 424 its from 72 or 76 really old radio ive been practicing on

i found the mod pot and cranked it but i think it was shot because weither i went up or down i deadkeyed an 10w and swung up to 12 so i put my own brand of swing kit in [which is nothing more than a strategically placed jumper wire] and swung up to 18w than i jumped the resistor from the driver to the bas of the final and gained about 1w on swing [pep] and my avg went up instead of down with modulation which it did before the jump happy with almost doubling my swing with just a couple pieces of wire i decided to change the final i couldent get the data sheet for the stock one big surprise so i just got a mosfet from radio shack and swaped it and now the radio turns on but wont put out ant watts at all i swaped it back same thing and before i checked the watts after the swap i checked swr and it was 0 or 1 however it went up with modulation wtf any idea what could have went?
ive been checking resistors and diodes all over the place cant figure it out
any ideas?

by the way both transistors are good
