Well, no thanks needed, but thanks anyway and many others chipped in on it.

In the words of the Silver Tongue'd Devil from Smokey and the Bandit...."you can thank me by not gettin caught"

By the way, if you have not seen that movie, watch it. It is a must see for any CB'er.

This reminds me of when I was first told about this site. I was much younger and in a difficult spot. My job had fallen through in the northeast and I was on my way back home. Carless, it was up to my talent, my looks, and my thumb to get home. There I was, in eastern Tennessee. It was cold and wet. Two white guys with a big cb antenna on the roof pull up. Their truck was warm and dry. I got in. It was a standard cab pickup. Linx was at the wheel and Bushog was in the middle and they had their hats on the dash. I was hungry and Linx and Bushog offered me some natural light and beef jerky. I would have declined but I was on my last stored calories, having walked for days. Static broke the silence of discomfort. It was the static of cb radio. Some guy was asking for a radio check. It seemed unimportant at the time but was a welcome sound to my ears. It was the social bridge I needed to penetrate the minds of my automotive hosts. I made small talk about their antenna. It was a base loaded Wilson, and oddly enough it had the white base and not the black one. That would mean something to me later, but that's a whole other story. They just nodded in agreement and seemed, in rhythm, to spit into their shared spitoon. It was the large brass type with a vintage Skoal Bandit sticker that was partially ripped off. Despite the lack of square footage, there was still a social distance in the small cab of that 1995 toyota truck but the magic of radio was my enduring tool that prevented a bad outcome. Once the common love for radio was established our relationship flourished like flowers in the spring. That ended up being the best winter of my life. Between the evening rides on the back of Linx's riding lawnmower and the fun that Bushy and I had in the kitchen duplicating Rachel Ray's recipes in 30 minutes or less, it is hard to decide which is the more fond memory. When I reflect on the first day, I still have chills when I think of the smell of the fresh scent of the baking plastic interior of a toyota with the defroster on full blast.

Well, one thing led to another, and you guessed it, we were to the point of erection. We erected dipoles, a tower, beam antennas, and I helped Linx put a starter on his sister's honda. She looks just like him, only a little taller and not as top heavy, if you know what I mean. Until the weather got warm, it was not uncommon for me to sit by the fire as Linx held his coax as I soldered on the PL-259 on his 8X, while Bushy kept the wine flowing. I'd love to say it lasted forever but my wife kept calling, so I had to return. What amazes me most is that you schmucks kept reading this junk this long. Linx is a fine family guy and Bushog has a family in his future. Valentine's day is coming up. Think about your loved one. Even if you're young and single, send your mother, your aunt, or your favorite person a sign that you love them. Do you think I may have a future career in writing?

ROFLMAO! GREAT!

I couldn't stop reading...it seems like just yesterday all 3 of us were sitting in that single cable with BushHog in the middle. I had my arm stretched around BushHog on the back of the seat, and you yawned and put your arm on top of mine...as if it were almost intentional. Ahhh...the smell of a drifter and 2 sweaty fat guys who refuse to turn the heat down or crack a window.

You never fail to entertain me drdx :bounce:

I have a 100 page manuscript I've written, but on an info topic. I don't think it has near the flow of my fiction. Maybe I should try that. Honestly, when I look back at some of those posts I start thinking "man, I need to stop drinking".
