Back in the day "70's" we would get address and mail a QSL card. Now days it would get expensive. Give me your thoughts on making a card and emailing it to the contacts. You have the info and you can make a database to try to make contact the next time the skip is running in that given area. I have not thought it al the way though, but I think it would be a good Idea if we can figure good way to do it. Please give me input and I will collect the info and see what I can come up with.

I think QSL Cards should come back,when I was growing up in the 70's I remember my dad having QSL Cards from all over the world and how excited he would get when new ones came in the mail.
So yes I would love to see some sort of QSL Cards.

I thought about this idea a couple of times too. I was also planning on having a computer dedicated to my shack when it finally gets completed. I was thinking about using Google Earth and putting place markers on the locations of the contacts I make that way I could try for repeat contacts when skip is from a certain area. Right now I am using a book to record everything...how archaic, huh. It would be really cool if I could recieve email QSL cards and use them as place markers on Google Earth instead of those little yellow flags. I would be game for email cards, I think it is a great idea, although the old cards wallpapering the inside of your shack is kinda cool too.

Slim Pickins here is a copy of my old QSL card on a business card hope you enjoy it. I would like to get a bunch of QSL cards also. Back in the day I used to send out at least 100 a week to people that I made contact with. Good Luck

I will see if I can import this to the Google Earth program and mark a flag on NM.

My plan is not working...I can't find a way to import the QSL card to the place marker on Google Earth. Maybe I will have to find another map program

You will have to have the card saved on your computer as an image file .jpeg, .jpg, .bmp, .png, .tif, .tiff.
Right click on your placemarker and select properties choose the placemarker button next to the name and at the bottom choose add custom icon then upload your image.

The problems:
They are too big on the map but too small to read



Another method is to do a photo overlay.
Click
[add]
[photo]
[browse]


Changing the transparency and height above ground will make it not as obstructive and cover a smaller area.
This will show a camera then as you scroll in it will bring up the photo

This is probably the best method.
